The Caustic Paint Stripping of wood items is done by using heated caustic solution, which is in general sodium hydroxide. Items are immersed in a caustic solution for at least 30 minutes to allow for the paint and dirt particles to break down and soften for easy removal. The paint is then pressure washed until clean and sprayed with acetic acid solution to neutralise the items to a neutral PH level. Wood items are then left in a dehumidified room until completely dry and ready for sanding. The sanding process smoothes the surface and prepares it for the finish either wax or oil, in the shade of your choice.

The Caustic Stripping is known to be the most gentle on the wood and gives the best possible result. It is used to remove most finishes and is especially good for thick paint build up.

Stripping process:

First we dip the door in a warm caustic solution for about 30-45 minutes to let the paint soften, the door is then jet washed to remove the finish (please note that this process removes most of the paint, there can be some small residue left around beading etc).

Neutralising process:

The next step is neutralising the item to a neutral PH level. For this we use acetic acid. The item is first entirely sprayed with acetic acid solution and then stored in a dehumidified room where it is left to naturally and completely dry out.

Sanding process:

After the stripping process before we start to sand the item, we clean it completely from the remained paint and then we doing the sanding process. In the sanding process the items will be sanded for smoother surface ready to apply the finish.

door-waxing-process

Waxing process:

In the waxing process a quality neutral color wax or oil is applied on the doors by hand which will bring out the natural beauty of the wood.
